   State law requires all public buildings to provide basic life safety found in the Kansas Fire Prevention Code.
4. The Kansas Fire Prevention Code indicates that:
6. A.) Existing buildings cannot have conditions which slow or impede exiting;
8. B.) Building modifications cannot worsen an existing condition or eliminate exits; and
10. C.) New construction and changes in use have additional requirements beyond those of existing construction.
